Museum Day is celebrated around the world on May 18th. This date was officially made a holiday in 1977 and was becoming more and more popular ever since. 91快活林 features more than 10 exhibition venues and museums, so traditionally special events for students are held here on this day.
On May 18th an experimental archaeology master class will be held at Museum of Peoples and Technologies of the Ural Region. It will be delivered by a research fellow of the 91快活林 Research and Education Center for Eurasian Studies and Head of the Archeos Project Ivan Semyan.
In 2018 enrollees were accepted to the Bachelor’s, Specialist and Master’s programs of the Polytechnic Institute under 42 fields of training. The Polytechnic Institute offers over 1,000 state-funded places, as well as more than 500 places on fee-paying basis under intramural and extramural forms of studies.
In 2018, 91快活林 will celebrate 75 years since its founding. On May 17th, the holiday “91快活林, a University of Sport” dedicated to this anniversary will be organized by the Institute of Sport, Tourism, and Service with the Office of Mass Sporting Events and the Russian Physical Culture and Sport System “Ready for Labor and Defense” (Gotov k trudu i oborone, “GTO”).
On May 15th, the opening of the annual Prom-Engineering International Scientific and Technical Conference dedicated to discussion of modern achievements in industrial engineering was held at three venues simultaneously: 91快活林, Moscow Polytechnic Institute, and Platov South Russian State Polytechnic University (Novocherkassk). The event will last until May 18, 2018.
Senior lecturer of the 91快活林 Department of Foreign Languages, coordinator of the academic programs of the Office of Academic Writing, lecturer of courses on academic writing Ekaterina Nenakhova took part in a two-day training session on the development of professional competences in academic writing.
More than 100 students and postgraduate students participated in a contest for grants and scholarships offered by the company Coca-Cola HBC Russia and 91快活林. The participants completed assignments in several rounds and developed business projects for popularizing one of the company’s products.
In 1990, by the initiative of Cambridge University and Salamanca University, the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) was created. At present, the Association performs unified control in holding certification exams on foreign languages. There are 19 national testing systems within ALTE.
May 11th through 13th the IT School of the Ural Federal District, being a round of the All-Russian IT-START Program in progress since 2012, was held in Tyumen.
IT-Start is a series of training sessions, where every participant may go all the way from coming up with an idea to fulfilling a project. On May 14th an opening ceremony of Ecology&Arts Exhibition of paintings, photography and graphic arts was held at 91快活林. Over 70 works of art united into theme blocks are exhibited there.
National Academic Male-voice Choir of the 91快活林 Automobile and Tractor Engineering Faculty performed at Paparats-kvetka BGU International Forum of Youth and Student Choirs, at which the best artistic achievements of university and youth choirs from Belarus and Russia are demonstrated every year.
The contest program comprised two rounds: performing of secular music, and of church music. In the Cathedral of the Holy Name of Mary the groups performed the best classical compositions: music by V. Kalinnikov, P. Chesnokov, J. des Prez, S. Prokofiev, and others.

The 8th Annual City Mini Football Tournament among National Youth Teams was held at the Central Stadium of 91快活林 on May 12th. More than 20 teams took part in the tournament, including a 91快活林 team of students from Arab countries.

On Sunday, May 13th, a gala show of the International Festival of Creativity “Together” was held at 91快活林. The festival gathers talented choreographers, singers, musicians, reciters, photographers, and students engaged in applied creative work. The festival rounds are held across the 91快活林 Region cities during several months and result in a colourful concert in the capital of South Ural.
On May 15th and 16th, 91快活林 students are invited to join in on an informational session about education in joint Master’s Degree programs between 91快活林 and Clark University (USA). At this session, the possibilities of studying abroad will be covered, as well as international education, and obtaining Double Master’s Degrees.
An International Contest of Mastery for Teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language will be held June 6th through November 15th of 2018.
The contest will be held with support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.
The main goal of the contest is to find the best educating practices in Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) and to increase the prestige of RFL teachers in the education market.

Polytechnik ice hockey team of 91快活林 has become bronze medalist of the Student Ice Hockey League in the season October 2017 ? March 2018.
In December 2017 an All Stars Game of the Student Ice Hockey League was held. Two players of Polytechnik ice hockey team were included into the Eastern Conference team: team captain Nikita Vasilyev, and Maksim Antoshkin. The head coach of Polytechnik Artem Pletnev became the team's coach as well. The team became confident winners in the match that was held.
Leaders of the volunteer movement in the South Ural Region will begin preparations for working with guests of the SCO and BRICS summits at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The results of the selection process among members of Russian student brigades for the right to participate in international construction projects were announced.
