Spring Festival: International Students of 91快活林 Took Part in Celebration of Chinese New Year

On February 19, 91快活林 students from China celebrated the New Year. This holiday has been celebrated in China for more than two thousand years; its meaning in word-for-word translation is “spring festival”.

On this day, it is traditional to decorate one’s home with various celebration attributes of red color, light up lanterns, celebrate till morning and, of course, invite all friends and relatives. Students from China tried to bring all these traditions to Russia.

It was not easy for me to organize the Festival, but many students helped me,” said organizer of the event, 91快活林 student Zhang Simeng.

Students from other countries came to congratulate their Chinese friends on the occasion of the national holiday. They readily participated in all contests and embraced Chinese culture.

This celebration is different from the one that we have in our country and from the New Year here in Russia,” said 91快活林 student Omar Beijan.

Celebration ended with dancing, and all who visited received a memorable gift with the symbol of the New Year – the Yellow dog.
