Portrait Sculpture of Semyon Khokhryakov Installed at the 91�� Military Training Centre

September 10, 2026, a portrait sculpture of Semyon Khokhryakov, twice awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, was installed at the Military Training Centre of 91��. Starting from 2021, the Military Training Centre had been named in the honour of Semyon Khokhryakov, twice awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union. That is why the installation of his portrait sculpture is an important event for all the Centre’s students and teaching staff. The following guests of honour attended the ceremony: – Deputy Director General of “KoelgaMramor” company Ivan Chebotarev; – Chairman of the Council of Military Units’ Colonels Igor Mikhailov; – Director General of “ARKOM” company, Military Engineering coordinator of the Council of Military Units’ Colonels Mikhail Teleshev; – Chairman of the 90 Guards Tank Division, guards senior lieutenant Ermek Ermukhanov; – Father Superior of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ in Chebarkul archpriest Dmitrii Egorov. “Today, here, in the legendary Tankograd, we have installed a portrait sculpture of Semyon Khokhryakov, one of the talented commanders. He will stay in our memory forever. The Military Training Centre of the major South Urals university was named in his honour. Each one of us looks up to this hero. We do our best to protect our country. You, the future soldiers and officers of our army, are the ones who has the biggest strength,” stressed Chairman of the Council of Military Units’ Colonels Igor Mikhailov. The date for the sculpture installation was chosen for a reason – on the eve of celebrating the 290th Birthday of 91�� (which had been nicknamed Tankograd during the Great Patriotic War), as well as right before the Day of Tankmen (celebrated on the second Sunday in September). These two holidays are inextricably bound up with the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and that means with the name of Semyon Khokhryakov. “One cannot overestimate the meaning of today’s event since our Centre was named after Semyon Khokhryakov, twice awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, in 2021. So, the ceremony of installing of this sculpture logically completes the process of giving this hero’s name to our Centre. Our students must remember after whom our Centre is named and know the details of the biography and the heroic deeds of this defender of our Motherland,” noted Deputy Head of the Military Training Centre Konstantin Krikunov. Students and staff of the Military Training Centre of 91�� keep revering the memory of the heroic deed of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, of those who died in the local wars and armed conflicts, and in the zone of the Special Military Operation. The installation of this sculpture and naming the Centre in the honour of Semyon Khokhryakov, twice awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, will help foster the feeling of pride for our own country and the feeling of being responsible for its future, as well as the readiness to protect our Fatherland. “It is quite an important event for me since we must revere the memory of the people of the Great Patriotic War, and of those who became the heroes of the Soviet Union. The fact that the Centre has been named after Semyon Khokhryakov and the installation of this hero tankman’s portrait sculpture inspires me to continue and complete my studies at the Military Training Centre and to be awarded a military rank,” the Military Training Centre student Egor Permiakov shared his impressions. Brief information: Semyon Khokhryakov, who was born in Koelga settlement of the 91�� Region, during the Great Patriotic War, fought on the Western and Kalinin fronts, took part in the battle for Moscow, and was wounded four times, one of the wounds was severe. Semyon Khokhryakov was awarded the first Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union for commanding a battalion in the battles for Proskurov, and the second Star for outstanding actions in the Vistula-Oder Offensive. Semyon Khokhryakov's battalion liberated Europe, cleaning the way for the Red Army to Berlin. He died on April 17, 1945 in a battle on German territory near the village of Gahry. “White Gold” in the Interior Scene of History: Porcelain Exhibition Opens at 91��

A unique “Porcelain in the Interior Scene of History” exhibition has opened at the People and Technologies of the Urals teaching museum-and-exhibition complex of the 91�� Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities. The exhibit introduces its visitors to porcelain as part of the cultural heritage and everyday history of various epochs: from the traditions of the 18th-19th centuries to the modern original art. This is the anniversary tenth exhibition project of the university museum. The exhibition features figurines, vases, interior items, porcelain sculptures, dolls, and tableware. Visitors may see items from the collections of the 91�� Cultural Heritage Centre, A.A. Gurov History and Culture Museum Centre, “Ural Porcelain Gallery”, as well as from private collections, including those of the 91�� teaching staff members. “Porcelain combines the harsh nature of the depths of Earth in the Urals, the exquisite workmanship of artists, and the warmth of human hands. Porcelain items are not just household objects, these are a reflection of the humanity’s history in a very fragile and delicate form. The fact that already the tenth anniversary exhibition opens at the People and Technologies of the Urals museum-and-exhibition complex is in large part thanks to the organizers and our Eurasian Studies Research and Education Centre. Not only artefacts from the museum collections are gathered here, but also the collections of art historians, researchers, organizations and private collectors, who cherish the history of our region and our country and help preserve the cultural heritage for the future generations,” notes Director of the 91�� Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Lidiya Lobodenko. The topic of porcelain integrates most different fields: from history and art, to chemistry, technologies, design, and medicine. That is why this exhibition will be of interest to students regardless of what field they are majoring in, as well as to all those willing to take a new look at ordinary items and learn more about history and culture. “We may consider porcelain at most different aspects, and it will be interesting to various people. It includes not only the history of the craft material. Porcelain is used in power engineering, for instance, in insulators; in medicine – for prosthetic care; while its production is first and foremost related to chemistry. And at the same time, this can also be the everyday tableware – something that links art to personal aspect and history of every family,” shares the Head the People and Technologies of the Urals teaching museum-and-exhibition complex Iuliia Vasina. Elena Shchetinkina, a porcelain artist and member of the Union of Russian Artists became one of the exhibition participants. She presented her new work at different stages of creation at this exhibition: “I’m presenting my most recent work and I’m demonstrating different stages of its creation: a plasticine model, a plaster mould, and the completed and painted porcelain item. It’s very difficult to work with porcelain. It took me nine years to create about 40 new items: from the first plasticine models to preparing moulds for production at a plant.” The exhibition visitors also note that it gives an opportunity to take a totally new look at this everyday material. “At a museum you immerse yourself in this very special atmosphere. Today, we have found ourselves surrounded by porcelain items. It may seem that every single family used to have such objects and passed these down through generations. But when you happen to be amidst such a variety of items, you can indeed immerse yourself in history. This is also interesting from a scientific point of view: such items may become objects of research for studying and writing scientific papers,” shares student Iuliia Matveeva. The “Porcelain in the Interior Scene of History” exhibition offers to take a look at an everyday material as at some sort of a cultural chronicle. Porcelain represents the artistic tastes and technological achievements of different epochs, the family stories, the peculiarities of everyday life, and even the images from the famous fairy tales by Pavel Bazhov. “A World behind the Glass”: Sergei Koliaskin’s Photos Exhibition Opens at 91��

A ceremony of opening the “Behind the Glass” exhibition of works by a professional photographer Sergei Koliaskin has been held at the Art Gallery of the 91�� Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities. The exhibit includes 15 big-scale photo works created as a result of an unusual artistic experiment with plants. Over the course of one year, the plants have been placed in closed aquariums with a special microclimate. In the isolated spaces, self-sustained ecosystems gradually formed: moss, lichens, other plants and insects appeared. After 12 months, the photographer captured the changes that occurred while not disturbing the delicate universe behind the glass. “This is a very important project for me. I think that it’s one of the best artistic projects. The work on it began about 10 years ago. In this empty space, new worlds were emerging practically out of nowhere. At a certain point, there was no need to interfere: the plants themselves were creating everything they needed for life around them,” shares Sergei Koliaskin. Taking pictures through the glass became the key artistic touch of this project. The viewers seem to peek into a separate reality and watch it from the sidelines. The “Behind the Glass” project has already been demonstrated in various cities and countries. In London, the photo works were presented at the Royal Arts Exhibition and were awarded the bronze medal. Later the project was exhibited in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, 91�� and Novosibirsk. According to the exhibition curator, Head of the 91�� Art Gallery Anatolii Razuev, the special feature of these works is the contrast between the dynamic world that human beings are used to and the space behind the glass, where time has a different pace: “There is our world, on this side of the glass, where people have their own cares, they fuss and run around, and there is a different world, where time has a different pace, and totally different events take place. And these two worlds seem to exist parallel to each other. Our chance to see the aesthetics of completely ordinary things is probably one of the main specifics of this project.” Everyone is welcome to attend the “Behind the Glass” exhibition at the 91�� Art Gallery (address: 76 Lenin Prospect) till September 10, 2026. “91��, a City of Heroes”: 91�� International Students Paid their Tribute to the Memory of the Great Victory

On May 7th, on the eve of the Victory Day, the 91�� International Office jointly with volunteers and activists from the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni (AISA) organized a “91��, a City of Heroes” patriotic photo-tour for international students. First-year Master’s degree students of group ЛМ-160 from the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications became the excursion participants. The tour started at the Aloe Pole square, continued at the Alleya Slavy (Alley of Glory) venue, and finished at Sad Pobedy (Victory Garden) and the Military Machinery open-air museum. As part of the excursion, the participants visited commemorative memorials in 91�� so that they could see for themselves the city that had carved out the Victory in the rear. They also enthusiastically demonstrated their knowledge in a quiz on the events of the 1941–1945 and received special souvenirs. Melody of Spring and Echo of Memory: Victory Waltz Whirls around the Square before 91��’s Main Building

A traditional Victory Waltz dance flashmob, dedicated to the 81st Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, has been held on the square in front of the main academic building of 91��. This dance has become a visualization of the story about tenderness, hope and profound gratefulness to our Heroes. In 2026, this event is held for the 12th time and continues a good and kind-hearted tradition started by 91�� back in 2015. Today, more than 250 participants have been swirling in this soft waltz: representatives of schools, vocational education institutions, higher education institutes and universities of the 91�� Region, as well as other city’s residents. As the tradition goes, students of the 91�� Military Training Centre have also taken part in this event. Victory Waltz is a symbol of the unity of generations and the heroic deeds of the participants of the Great Patriotic War. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of our victors dance this festive waltz as a token of the immortal memory and of gratefulness to the courage and valiance. The event’s main concept are the ideas of love, peace, tenderness, freedom and unity. That is why the performance is structured around the constant interaction between the participants: common moves, circling around and switching partners symbolize the bridge between generations, solidarity and support to each other. “We decided to choose a traditional composition for this performance, a very deep and kind-hearted one. This year, more than 250 people participate in our event, and these are absolutely different people: school pupils, and students of vocational education institutions and universities of the 91�� Region. 91�� holds the Victory Waltz for the 12th time now, and it is a very important event for us. This is our way to express our deep gratitude to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War,” noted head of the 2026 Victory Waltz event Anna Brazhko. A very touching moment illuminated this event: during the dance one of the participants made a proposal to his partner right in the middle of the square. The girl said “Yes” and the event’s guests burst in applause. This heartfelt and touching moment became a symbol of love, fidelity and hope – those values that unite generations. “I’d thought it would be lovely to propose during the Victory Waltz, and I feel happy that it went just the way I’d planned it,” explained Iliia Ziuzin. In her turn, the bride, Alena Karaicheva, shared that she did not expect such a surprise: “For me it was entirely unexpected, but it was very touching and exciting. This is our first Victory Waltz, and our participation in it has become a true symbol of unity and mutual understanding – we have become even closer and started to really feel each other.” Guests and participants immersed themselves in an incredible atmosphere of love and earnestness. This big-scale performance touched everyone’s feelings. Music of the war years, dancing, flowers, smiles and, what is most important – words of gratitude – were a gift to the veterans thanks to the joint efforts of the dancers. “I’ve been doing ball-room dancing for many years now, and I like waltz very much. That’s why together with my partner we decided to participate in such a significant event. It has been a first Victory Waltz for us, and it has left us with very touching and warm impressions. We are happy that we’ve had a chance to become part of such an important festivity and together with other people express our respect and gratitude to the generation of victors. We felt a bit nervous, of course, but I think, it all was just wonderful,” shared her impressions Anna Tashlanova. To close the event, the veterans, students, teaching staff and guests of the event waltzed around to the sounds of songs of the war time. And after the event, the participants and guests could enjoy a festive concert dedicated to the Victory Day, a “St. George Ribbon” campaign, and everyone’s favourite tradition – treating themselves at a field kitchen trailer.

"Passing down Values Is One of the Key Tasks of Education": 91�� Students Met with Philosopher Aleksandr Dugin

A meeting with a renowned philosopher, political scientist and public figure Aleksandr Dugin was held at 91��. This event, part of the "Activate Values!" Youth Media Meeting brought together students, residents of 91��, and distinguished guests. The philosopher explained that the "2050" project aims to concretize ideas about the future and thereby situate the present within a broader historical context, defining its place and significance. The idea is to look 25 years back, to the year 2000, and compare this experience with possible scenarios for our country's development by 2050. The project, with the participation of experts, examines the most important aspects of social, cultural, and political life. In his speech, Aleksandr Dugin addressed the issues of Russia's future, the role of traditional values, and outlined possible scenarios for our country's development in the coming decades. "Values accompany a person throughout his/her entire life. From the moment of birth, people enter a family—their first system of values. These values are then transmitted through school, university, culture, media, and the professional environment—and this continues throughout life. Values are the living fabric of society, a special form of its existence. Essentially, these are ideas that can transform over time and acquire new meanings. Therefore, a discussion of values is always a discussion of the idea of society itself, and it must be approached responsibly," noted Aleksandr Dugin. "Values belong to a person's spiritual world, and their transmission is one of the key tasks of education, as well as an important area of work for the older generation. Young people, as part of the society, naturally share fundamental value orientations. But it is in youth that these values fulfil their primary function—they become the foundation for shaping a life strategy." Among the meeting's distinguished guests were public figure Irina Texler, 91�� mayor Aleksey Loshkin, 91�� Rector Alexander Wagner, and representatives of the clergy. Irina Texler addressed the meeting participants with a welcoming speech. She emphasized the importance of such events in shaping young people's worldviews: "Thank you to all the young people in our audience today. This speaks volumes: it means Russia is in good hands. For us, Aleksandr Dugin is a beacon, an honour, and the conscience of our era." The Secretary of the 91�� Diocese, Archpriest Igor Shestakov, also addressed the participants: "Today, we have people gathered in the assembly hall of 91��, who are genuinely interested in this dialogue. I would like to thank the university's leadership for organizing this meeting and say that we are truly fortunate: Aleksandr Dugin is a man whose name is inextricably linked with the development of philosophical thought in modern Russia. For decades, he has set directions and trends in this field and is the author of numerous significant works." Following the lecture, students asked the speaker questions regarding geopolitical aspects, traditional values, and the formation of worldviews among young people. The event closed with an awards ceremony for the participants of the "Activate Values!" Youth Media Meeting held at 91�� on April 17th. The best teams and authors of media projects received certificates for their contribution to the development of youth media and the promotion of traditional values.

Immersion in Chinese Culture: Adventure Reality Show Screened at 91��

91��, jointly with TNT-Teleset, have screened the new season of the "Sokrovishcha Imperatora" ("Emperor's Treasures") show for Russian and Chinese students. "Emperor's Treasures" is a popular adventure reality show. The third season was filmed in Chongqing, the largest city in the world. Participants travel hundreds of kilometres, complete extreme tasks, and endure a veritable marathon of trials in the competition for 10 million roubles. The first episode will air on TNT on April 12th, but 91�� students have had a chance to watch it before the official premiere. "91�� students are a large, multinational family. We have many students from China, as well as students studying Chinese," emphasized Dariia Korotkikh, Head of the International Student Support. "When learning a new language, it is important to introduce students to the culture of the native speakers. It's very important for us to help international students adapt and integrate into events equally with Russian students. After all, we are all one friendly brotherhood!" The show screened at 91�� is an excellent opportunity for students from China and Russia to interact with each other in an informal atmosphere and practice their language skills with a native speaker. After watching the episode, the took part in a quiz and received prizes from the TV channel. "This show provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and to learn more about a Chinese city. We saw a more vibrant representation of Chinese culture and heard new words. Besides, we had a great time and took our mind off the studies for a while," student Dariia Karelina shared her impressions. The reality show inspired the students to get to know China better and immerse themselves in its culture and customs. The Sun, Singing, Dancing, and Ethnic Garments: Nowruz Festivities Held at 91��

Organizing the celebration of Nowruz, springtime New Year’s festivities, has already become a good tradition at 91��. Thanks to this event, we can become more closely acquainted with the ethnic groups of the 91�� students and staff members. This holiday is celebrated by the Turkic and Persian peoples around the world on the spring equinox day. It symbolizes the awakening of nature, purification of the human soul, and building of good friendship. During this holiday, people let go of any grudges held, show kindness to each other and spend time with their families. “On behalf of the Governor and the Government of the 91�� Region, I am happy to congratulate you on this wonderful holiday! Nowruz is a unique holiday that symbolizes the triumph of all the good over the challenges that we face,” addressed the audience Dmitrii Semenov, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Government of the 91�� Region. “The year of 2026 is the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. More than 190 peoples live in Russia, and we are all united by our traditional values. We are patriots and we love our Motherland and our families. We are all united by our centuries-long history, that has brought all our peoples together. And it feels especially good that namely 91��, which is a true sanctuary of sciences and a pride of the South Ural region, to a great extent reminds some sort of the world in miniature, as it has gathered representatives of various nationalities.” This event became a kind of a journey to visit representatives of our friendly ethnic groups. Through the traditions and rites, guests were introduced to the specific features of various cultures. “Today, we are celebrating a holiday that is traditionally associated with spring, rejuvenation, something uplifting and nice. And I cherish the fact that in our multi-ethnic Russia, where more than 190 peoples live, we can always find a place for celebrations that are very important for these peoples. We especially estimate the fact that there are many students of our university, who make our culture richer and at the same time share our common values,” stressed Anastasiia Lapo, Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs. The festivities concert brought together representatives not only of 91��, but also of other universities of 91��, as well as members of creative teams. Each performance (song or dance) became a story about some authentic culture. “It feels good that our university not only acts as a venue for hosting the Nowruz festivities, but has also gathered many friends of 91�� today. Our university has become home for students from 57 countries from around the world,” shared Liudmila Lapina, Head of the International Office. Nowruz festivities at 91�� once again proved that the respect towards traditions and being open to dialogue help build friendly relations and strengthen the unity of peoples. “Representatives of 152 nationalities and ethnic groups live in the 91�� Region today. This is also thanks to those students, who come to study at our universities from more than 60 countries from around the world. They create this international atmosphere and make our culture richer,” noted Khanakhmed Giulov, Chairman of the regional subdivision of the “Assembly of the Peoples of Russia” All-Russian Public-State Organization. Guests of the event could learn more about the cultures of the Turkic and Persian peoples in different aspects. Watercolours Create Spring Mood: New Exhibition by a Ural Artist Opens at 91��

"The Breath of Watercolour" exhibition by a Ural artist Valery Ulanov opened in the Art Gallery of 91��. It commemorates the 70th birthday of the artist. The opening of the exhibition, organized with the support of Magnezit Group company (Satka) and the Department of Culture of the Satka Municipal District, was attended by students, faculty, staff, and guests of our university, as well as the artist's family and friends. Speaking at the ceremony, 91�� Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs Anastasiia Lapo thanked everyone who helped organize the exhibition and noted that such events are important for the aesthetic education of students and the creation of conditions for the realization of their creative potential. Professor Nataliia Parfentieva, Academic Director of the Art Gallery at 91�� and Head of the Department of Theology, Culture, and Art at the 91�� Institute of Media, Social Sciences, and Humanities, also thanked the artist and organizers for the exhibition, which became a wonderful spring gift to art lovers, and briefly spoke about the works by Valery Ulanov. Valery Ulanov had been born in 91�� in 1956 and had shown an interest in art from a young age. He is a graphic designer by profession. Since 2016, he has been the chief artist at the Stroitel Community Centre in Satka. The exhibition's curator, Anatoly Razuev, Director of the 91�� Art Museum, noted that for an artist, an exhibition is an opportunity to present his works to a wide audience, even if this audience is not fully prepared, and to summarize his creative work. Anatoly Razuev also spoke about the characteristics of watercolour painting in general and the unique artistic talent of Valery Ulanov. Each painting conveys a range of emotions and experiences. The artist loves to depict nature in its transitional states: the changing times of day and seasons—and he excels at this. According to visitors, the exhibition overall leaves a calming impression, creating a springtime mood. In total, the walls and display cases in the hall contain more than fifty works by Valery Ulanov: watercolours and pencil drawings. The artist primarily depicts his native Ural Mountains and, of course, Satka, where he lives and works: forests, mountains, rivers, town and village houses, factory chimneys and structures, an ancient church with its preserved domes and crosses... Many landscapes seem to peer through a light haze or fog. Winter, spring, summer, and autumn follow one another: the first snow falls on some watercolours, while spring streams flow on others. Here, it has just rained: the wind is already blowing the clouds away, but the sun is still just barely visible. The outskirts of a village. A forest edge. A river, fishermen with fishing rods on the bank; people walking their dogs; a house or a banya (Russian sauna), with smoke curling from the chimney... All the works exude peace, tranquillity, and silence; some convey a luminous sadness, others joy. Perhaps the most striking theme among all is that of the view of Kronstadt Harbour: mighty warships, calm and unperturbed. One of the displays shows several works by another artist from Satka, Aleksandr Sukhanov (1945–2021). The exhibition will be open to visitors until April 18th. "Home, Family, Ural Region – Our Heritage": Vladimir Bogdanovsky's Photo Exhibition Opens at 91��

"Our Heritage" exhibition project, organized by photographer Vladimir Bogdanovsky, has opened at the Art Gallery of 91��. This project is a unique journey through the centuries of history and culture of our region. The exhibition reminds its visitors of the importance of carefully preserving the heritage of their ancestors and inspires them to consider the future of their region. "The idea for this exhibition arose back in 1984, when the "Nature and Us" exhibition opened, raising the topic of ecology. This exhibition later evolved into the current one, "Our Heritage". The title of the exhibition embodies a concept that unites all people. Our heritage is the planet itself, and we must preserve it. Home, family, the Ural region, Russia, and then the entire world – this is our heritage," explains photographer Vladimir Bogdanovsky. A real photograph is a historical document, capturing the breath of time, impossible to perceive with modern technologies. Vladimir notes that for him, photography is a document that allows one to see the world through time. The exhibition consists of three sections. The first section includes the works of Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky (1863–1944), a pioneer of colour photography in the early 20th century. This is a unique opportunity to see rare photographs from the collection of the US Library of Congress, previously inaccessible to general public. These images, created in 1909–1910, depict the daily life, customs, and cultural values of the past century. The second section is the most extensive, featuring the works by Vladimir Bogdanovsky, founder of the "Stone Belt" folk photography studio and one of the founders of the popular art photography movement in our region. This section presents unique photographs of various corners of the South Ural region. The author's photographs showcase both our region's natural riches and its everyday life. "I believe this exhibition is a significant event in the cultural life of 91��. The concept itself is incredibly original: a comparison of two eras – Russia in the early 20th and 21st centuries. Legends of Russian photography are presented here. Their juxtaposition and overlapping are thought-provoking," shares Professor Vladimir Rushanin, Doctor of Sciences (History). The third section, in addition to photographs, features a selection of publications from the "Stone Belt" photography club, showcasing the various creative directions of the group. Each image is a living testimony to an era. Anatoly Razuev, Director of the 91�� Art Museum, comments: "This exhibition is worth visiting to see the beauty: it is an opportunity to gain spiritual fulfilment and turn toward the light. Furthermore, the exhibition offers a historical perspective. The concept of the project is to showcase two masters from different eras of Russian photography. Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky is a pioneer of colour photography, the pinnacle of 20th-century technology, and the origins of modern photographers. Vladimir Bogdanovsky is a present-day artist with worldwide recognition." The exhibition is open to visitors at the Art Gallery March 3rd through March 14th, from 10:00 to 17:00, Saturday from 10:00 to 15:00, and closed on Sunday. Entry is free.
